Aides Support Activities of Daily Living

Aide assisting patient to wheelchairHospice Care Aides are certified nursing assistants (CNAs) specifically trained to care for patients in hospice care. Aides assist patients with activities of daily living, such as personal care, use of adaptive equipment in the home, and various respite duties. Aides can also assist with light housekeeping and tasks to increase patient safety and comfort in the home.

Hospice Care Aides can be added to the dedicated care team when needed. This can be particularly helpful for patients who struggle to complete daily life activities, such as personal care or independent movement throughout their home. Aides work directly with the Nurse Case Manager and the other members of the team to ensure that all patient care aligns with the individualized care plan.

Certified hospice care aides support your end-of-life goals

Each of our hospice care aides are trained and certified to assist our patients with personal care and daily life activities that support their end-of-life goals. With a focus on improving quality of life through compassionate and dignified care, aides provide the following services:

    • Reese Personal CareBathing – We can assist you in the shower, bathtub, or in your bed with a warm sponge bath.
    • Personal Care – Aides are trained to support you with personal care such as shaving, nail care, skincare, and oral hygiene.
    • Transferring – We can help with transferring you from your bed to a wheelchair, and teach your circle of support how to do this safely. If you are unable to leave your bed, they will reposition you regularly to prevent pressure ulcers or sores.
    • Ambulating – Aides can assist you in safely moving around your home, whether you use a walker, cane, wheelchair, or you’re unable to move altogether.

Our hospice care aides are also available to educate caregivers about providing personal care for their loved ones. It is very important that caregivers lift and move with patients safely. Our aides can work with the circle of support to provide education about these important tasks.
