Hospice Volunteers Are Essential to Our Team

Volunteer working on puzzleVolunteer work is an important part of hospice care, and volunteers are an essential part of the Hospice of the Northwest team. From sitting and talking with patients, Veterans matched with Veterans, to administrative tasks, it’s easy to find a volunteer role that best suits your interests and passions.

Despite wanting to help others, most volunteers feel more fulfilled and helped by patients than they can give in return. And that’s an amazing gift. Be a part of this surreal experience by joining our team of volunteers!

Make a difference in someone’s life!

Volunteer RichardOur hospice volunteers come to us for a variety of reasons, whether it’s for community service hours, getting out of the house, or for no reason at all. Our volunteers do have one thing in common: they are giving a gift of their time.

Hospice volunteers usually provide 1-4 hours of their time each week, often working directly with patients to seize precious time. Our patients are experiencing a terminal illness, and the time they have left should be filled with dignity and compassion. You can be a part of their journey.

Each of our patients is special, with a unique story to tell. They need someone with a set of welcoming ears who are ready to listen and hold their hand through this time. Are you up for the challenge? We need you

Hear from one of our volunteers, Judy :

“I feel as a volunteer that we receive the greatest reward of all by being with these patients and just listening to their needs or wishes.”

Judy has a personal connection to hospice care. Her passion, drive, and commitment to our patients allows them to feel comfortable enough to voice their concerns, hopes, and wishes. Her role as a hospice volunteer at Hospice of the Northwest is a testament to our mission to give all patients dignity, compassion, and respect at every moment of life.

From the moment they come on service, our patients are wrapped in support services with a dedicated care team. Be part of the dedicated care team helping someone live every moment of their life, on their terms.
