Why You Should be a Hospice Volunteer
Hospice volunteering is a unique opportunity to improve someone’s quality of life as they face a life-limiting illness. We use a team approach personalized for each patient and a holistic system of services. Volunteers are an important part of the team, often providing one-on-one support with a patient.
Many of our volunteers have a personal connection to hospice care and are fulfilled by helping others on their end-of-life journey. Dozens of volunteers support Hospice of the Northwest through a variety of volunteer opportunities. We invite you to be a part of our compassionate hospice care team.
The benefits of being a hospice volunteer
Hospice of the Northwest volunteers are central to our mission. Our volunteers tell us they enjoy personal fulfillment through their work:
-
- Helping community members facing a terminal illness, and assisting their circle of support.
- Developing interpersonal, communication, and critical-thinking skills.
- Feeling a sense of togetherness working as a part of a holistic care team.
Our volunteers and staff go above and beyond. Our patients are treated with dignity, compassion, and respect from the moment they come on service. Join a family of professionals who care for others and volunteer with Hospice of the Northwest.
Hear from Pat, a hospice volunteer:
“Hospice volunteers have a heart for those in a sudden, unexpected place and wish to make it better, if only by respectfully walking with them and helping in any way that soothes.”
Volunteering with hospice makes a difference for patients. We are grateful to the dedicated team of kind-hearted community members who invest their time supporting hospice care.
