More Than Typical Hospice Care
We provide more than end-of-life care. From the moment you begin services with Hospice of the Northwest, you and your loved ones have access to a team of compassionate, dedicated end-of-life experts focused on supporting your individualized needs and goals. With Hospice of the Northwest, you and your circle of support can reach a registered nurse or the counselor on call anytime, day or night. You can have peace of mind knowing that someone will pick up when you call, 24/7.
Each of our patients is supported by a dedicated care team with a holistic approach that is focused on the whole person, including your circle of support.
Your care team includes:
-
- Board-certified Hospice Physician
- Registered Nurse
- Social Worker
- Spiritual Counselor
- Additional service providers as needed
We have supplemental care services and supports provided by hospice care aides and volunteers. In addition to traditional hospice treatments to reduce symptoms and increase comfort, we offer a number of non-medication-based therapies and services. These Integrative Services provide additional options to include in each patient’s individualized care plan, allowing you to decide what is most important to you during this time.
Integrative Services include:
-
- Clinical Musicians
- Massage therapists
- Aromatherapy
- Energy work (such as Reiki)
- Therapeutic pet visits
- And more
We pride ourselves on prioritizing dignity and autonomy, providing each patient with a personalized care plan that meets their specific needs and goals. We respect your beliefs and attitudes toward medicine. We will work with you and your circle of support to find a treatment plan that supports your priorities and provides what is most important to you at this time.
Washington State approved, Medicare-certified
Hospice of the Northwest is a Medicare-certified, Washington State-approved hospice. This means we are fully accredited by an objective third party and accountable to a nationally-held quality standard. This accreditation also allows our services to be paid through Medicare, Medicaid, the Department of Veterans Affairs, and/or most private insurers. When patients use a Medicare-certified hospice, the financial burdens often associated with caring for a terminally-ill patient are lifted.
We are also a proud member of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization, the first and largest organization of its kind. The NHPCO helps member hospices further their commitment to providing interdisciplinary, holistic care for every patient.
Supported by a network of community donors
We are fortunate to be supported by a network of generous, community donors through the Hospice of the Northwest Foundation. The foundation pays for programs and services that are beyond the scope of the Medicare hospice benefit, such as our integrative services program and many of the Veterans’ services. This allows Hospice of the Northwest to provide treatments and services at no cost to our patients, which are above and beyond what a typical hospice can provide.
Our donors also provide financial assistance for patients and families without Medicare benefits or private insurance.
Donor support through the Foundation means that we have never turned anyone away due to an inability to pay.

“What we offer is a holistic care team that will come in and support the patient and their circle of support, wherever they are. There is always a nurse and counselor on call, 24 hours a day.”
